Motion Reboot today introduces Dicom Converter 1.0 for iOS, an app that converts DICOMs to images you can view on your mobile device. Hallandale Beach, Florida - Motion Reboot today is thrilled to announce the release and immediate availability of DICOM Converter for iOS, an app that converts DICOMs (such as MRIs and CT scans) to images you can view on your mobile device. Physicians, technicians, or patients upload their DICOM scans to Google Drive, then download images to their phone.

DICOM images are the standard method for handling, storing, printing, and transmitting information in the medical field. However, iOS mobile devices do not support viewing these types of images out of the box. For this reason, often times these images are viewed on a personal computer, with the assistance of special software. Dr Sharp's goal in this project was to "make medical imaging accessible to the mobile community."

With medical images on mobile devices, physicians may be able to more easily collaborate and share cases for internal consulting. In addition, with Google Drive's ability to share folders, entire patient/study/series have the potential of being shared globally and converted to iOS with DICOM Converter.

ac Apple Base Station Extreme/Time Capsule Highest Performance Upgrade

QuickerTek has upgraded the 802.11 ac Apple Airport Base Station Extreme by adding six high gain external antennas to the unit. This antenna upgrade provides dual-band 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz WiFi and also triples the WiFi strength of any version of the new Apple ac Base Station Extreme and/or Time Capsule. The improvement in wireless power is accomplished by optimizing antenna location. QuickerTek can either supply a new Apple unit, or the customer may send in their own Apple unit.


Wichita, Kansas - QuickerTek upgrades the already-fast Apple Airport Base Station Extreme with an innovative antenna update. Not only does the antenna upgrade offer dual-band 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz WiFi, it also triples the range of any version of the Base Station Extreme and/or Time Capsule. This improved wireless power offers users the ability to arrange and use their Apple wireless anywhere they choose. Three different upgrades are available: Airport Base Station Extreme AC, 2TB Time Capsule and the 3TB Time Capsule from $398(USD)to $598. Customers can also send in their own unit to be modified at a price of $199 (USD).

With the addition of six high gain dual-band 5dBi antennas, users can easily position the upright and articulated antennas to work best for their specific work area. Placing wireless equipment for optimum performance becomes much less troublesome. This upgrade also boosts AppleTV and any other wireless networking task. Users can also experience the improved wireless for their broadband WiFi connections to DVD players for streaming media such as Netflix and Hulu.

The standard Apple Extreme Base Station does not have a built-in port to connect these antennas. So, QuickerTek engineered a means of attaching them to a customer-supplied Base Station. Alternatively, QuickerTek can supply a Base Station that has already been modified with the antenna connections. Either way, customers will quickly discover the wireless performance they have been missing. Buffering is eliminated and multi-user WiFi connections are all smooth and fast.

QuickerTek is the only company in the world to have designed an external antenna array system for Apple's latest Airport Base Station Extreme 802.11ac. And, users have additional options to connect any other antenna type, including an outdoor directional antenna for long distance wireless. Those users with multi-building installations can quickly extend their networks with powerful WiFi coverage.

The stock Airport Extreme Base Station AC or Time Capsule do not support external antennas. To add the antenna adaptor cable ports, these units are machined for connection to the internal wireless board. The QuickerTek adaptor cables that connect to the custom CNC-machined antenna mounting base either fit on the top of the Base Station or Time Capsule or can be remotely placed using extension cables. These antenna extension cables provide yet another means of optimizing the placement of wireless gear for maximum WiFi throughput and performance.

This Base Station Extreme AC Antenna Upgrade works with all Mac OSX operating systems from 10.7 and later - as does the Airport Extreme. The antennas can be mounted to all three versions of the Airport Extreme as well as the 2TB and 3TB Time Capsule versions.

Falling Fox released for iOS - A Vertical Diving Game

FlipBox Games today announces Falling Fox 1.1, their second game for iOS. The game stars an adventuring fox called Roki, whom one day came across a treasure map left by some unknown entity. Intrigued by the words of 'Gold Coins' mentioned on the map, Roki sets out to the location shown on the map. However, he will soon find out that those 'Gold Coins' will not come by so easily. The device's accelerometer is used to move Roki left and right, while touching the screen will float him upwards.


Singapore - FlipBox Games, a husband and wife indie game developer team, today is pleased to announce the release of Falling Fox 1.1, their second game for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Falling Fox stars a fox called Roki, whom one day came across a map left inside a treasure chest. The map showed locations with the words 'Gold Coins' written on top, triggering Roki's interest as an adventurer. However he will soon find out that getting those gold coins will not be so easy.

Fallling Fox uses a game mechanic that is not widely popular. Unlike most vertical games that depicts the player going from bottom to top, Roki will start from the top and fall to the bottom. The objective is to dive as deep as possible, collecting coins along the way while avoiding dangerous obstacles like bombs and sharp spikes.

The team behind FlipBox Games have spend quite a significant amount of time finding the best control scheme for Falling Fox; from virtual directional controls to touch movements to using the device's accelerometer. In the end, they decided the best method is combine both touch and accelerometer. The device's accelerometer is used to move Roki left and right, while touching the screen will float him upwards.

In the coming months, FlipBox Games has plans to add more contents such as new stages and new skills. Their latest version (1.1) includes a new teleport skill that can be unlocked once the player reaches a depth of 1000 meters.

Tasa Graphic Arts releases a Mineral Database app for Mac OS X

Mineral identification is made easy with the Mineral Database compiled by M. Darby Dyar and Mickey E. Gunter and illustrated by Dennis Tasa. This new Mac app provides a quick reference for students, educators, professionals, or anyone interested in minerals. Search for minerals by selecting physical properties, optical properties, Dana number, Dana class, or many other classification and occurrence criteria; or, browse the mineral photo galleries.

This new Mac app provides a quick reference for students, educators, professionals, or anyone interested in minerals. Search for minerals by selecting physical properties, optical properties, Dana number, Dana class, or many other classification and occurrence criteria; or, browse the mineral photo galleries.

Entries for more than 300 common mineral species cover the vast majority of occurrences without presenting an overwhelming number of obscure species rarely encountered. The software provides hand sample photos, photomicrographs of thin sections, physical properties, crystal shape animations,  3D crystal structures (that you can rotate and enlarge to fill your screen), optical properties, classification, and occurrence data as well as partial data for many more species, varieties, groups, sub-groups, and series.

Search for color, hardness, and streak in field and classroom uses. Use the app as a companion to a polarizing light microscope by searching for birefringence or refractive index. Identify your unknown mineral through use of any or all 54 search criteria. The comprehensive search feature allows mineral identification by using known physical properties (such as color, streak, luster etc.) or crystal and optical properties. Or, you can visually search the hand sample photos and photomicrographs using the pop-up image galleries.

This database complements the authors' textbook, "Mineralogy and Optical Mineralogy," available from the Mineralogical Society of America.

The app can also act as an interactive teaching tool, allowing children to learn about the boundaries of Swarm behaviour and how to control the Swarm within these boundaries. Using Swarm Simulator is extremely simple and it is in full screen. The screen consist of dots that are appearing or disappearing allowing for as much as 200,000 points at any given time on the screen. Swarm Simulator generates two kinds of Swarms that compete with one another for resources on screen. On the bottom of the screen are the controls of the Swarm Simulator, allowing access to the Swarm controls that consist of four sliders to tune the Swarm. The four sliders control simulation speed, rate of dot appearance for the two competing Swarms and dot disappearance rate for one of them.

Swarm Simulator caters to the new age popular studies of Swarm behaviour all around the world today. It offers an entry level understanding of Swarm study and for young minds a realisation of its properties and behaviour. Swarm Simulator gives instant feedback to the user in the form of pattern generation on screen while using the sliders to tune the Swarm. A fine tuning of its properties unlocks endless patterns and engages the user in a stimulating learning that can best described as constant learning feedback loop.

Another interesting part of Swarm Simulator is the colouring of the Swarm, choose from 48 different colours for each Swarm and background. Colouring the Swarm offers a new vision of the Swarm every time a colour changes. Swarms Simulator also has a counter for each Swarm and the generations that have passed. This offers the option of monitoring the Swarm fluctuation to get a deeper understanding of its behaviour.

Swarm Simulator is a free app with one iAd banner that can be removed for a one dollar. The app has parental control so that children cannot buy ad banner away on iPad. Swarm Simulator has sharing controls that allows the user to share with friends with email and other social medium. The sharing option has also got a child lock on it so that young children cannot share if parental locks are in place.

Learning about Swarm behaviour from books is somewhat difficult, but Swarm Simulator offers an comfortable alternative.
